“Tony Tan took me in as a very fresh, young, and fairly new to the game basketball player. It was in grade 9 that I first started out with the Calgary Storm basketball club and it was there that Tony had recognized my hidden potential. Without Tony, the Tan family, and the storm basketball family I honestly do not believe I would be where I am today playing basketball for Red Deer College with great minutes as a first year player. It was such a family atmosphere on and off the court that they took me in as if I was one of their own, Tony pushed me to be the greatest I could be, and for that I thank him and what Calgary Storm Basketball did for me and I will forever think of them as my family.”

“Most if not all of my success in basketball has been a result of Tony Tan’s coaching, encouraging, and teaching. At the age of 8, I joined a community team in Calgary. Luckily for me, Tony Tan was the coach of that team. After playing that season, Tony invited me to play for his club team. Throughout the next 7 years, he pushed me beyond my limits to reach my potential and I found myself loving the game more than ever. Thinking at the time that basketball was just an extracurricular activity, I didn’t realize that it would become part of who I am. In the summer of 2012, Tony suggested that I try out for the U15 Provincial Team. Never in my life did I think I could make that team but I did. Following 2012, in 2013 I played on the U15 Provincial Team for a second year. Back when I was 9 playing for that U11 team, I never would have foreseen myself representing Alberta at the National Championships. For all my success in basketball, I owe Tony and his coaching staff an enormous amount of thanks and appreciation.”

“I owe most all of my basketball success and development to Tony Tan. I had previously played ringette for 10 years and at the age of 15 was exploring basketball on a Community “B” team where Tony saw my raw undeveloped skills. He invited me to come workout with his club team, even before he knew I could contribute. Through the next 3 years he taught, encouraged and challenged me to be better. At the time I only imagine that it would be for my improvment and success at High School, but he always talked about being able to play after high school. Tony exposed us to the toughest tournaments and games, so that we could see what it took and where we fit in. Never did I believe, at the begining that it would lead me to a starting role on a CIS University Team, in just 3 years. For this I owe Tony and his coaches a huge amount of appreciation.”

“I want to extend my sincere thanks for all that you do for these kids. The Storm Fall Program was excellent and the parents, I appreciate the college exposure you got for these high school girls. I am tickled pink with the progress that these players have made to date as a result of your Skill Development.”

“My son loves working with Tony. Because of the energy, passion and knowledge with which Tony Tan conducts his workouts, my son is gaining the skills and confidence he needs to get better. He has convinced my son that if he practices with passion – he will be able to play with passion. As a parent, I know this will have an impact not only on the basketball court, but in life.”

“Tony Tan is constantly working. I remember when we had a clinic at Red Deer Lake School and I was amazed at how well he knew his fundamentals. He could really break the game down…and he could show you how to do it. Not many coaches can do that, teach and then show by example. He is an excellent student of the game.”
